notes on pictures · by leyzays

A painting of a quiet window with a handwritten note on it, made with overleyz

A little studio for gentle notes

overleyz puts words on pictures. Choose how you feel, pick a painting, a travel photo or a picture of your own, add a note and a few stickers, and share it as an Instagram post or a short reel.

How it works

  1. Check in. Each day overleyz starts by asking How are you today? Your answer sets up words, a picture and music to match — and colours today on your little mood calendar.
  2. Say how you feel. Hopeful, heartbroken, grateful, in love, tired, brave, wanderlust, letting go, growing, or missing your people. overleyz suggests notes, pictures and stickers that match — or tap Surprise me.
  3. Choose a picture. 170+ text-free leyzays paintings, 250+ travel photos from 60 places, plain soft paper, or your own photo.
  4. Add your words. Write your own, or borrow one of 450+ leyzays notes or a classic line from a well-loved book or poem. Pick the lettering, ink and size, underline a phrase, and drag the words where you want them.
  5. Add stickers. The Sugar Valley dessert friends, journal washi and doodles, seasonal stickers and little watercolour still-lifes. Drag them, resize and turn them.
  6. Share. Make a 4:5 post, a square, or a 9:16 story — or an 8-second reel where your words appear line by line, with music from the leyzays songs. On a phone, Share opens your apps: Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, Viber.
  7. Or send it as a note. Tap the envelope, add who it’s for, and send the link. When they open it, the picture appears, then your words — like opening a letter — and they can write one back.

The paintings

Soft gouache-and-watercolour scenes painted for leyzays — the same art behind its quote posts, with the words left off so yours can go on.

The travel photos

Real photos from Ley’s own trips (@traveleyz) — Kyoto to the Grand Canyon, Paris to Palawan. No stock photos.

The Sugar Valley friends

Cocoa, Butterscotch Belle, Chippie, Melty, Tutti Frutti and the rest of the dessert cast from The Sweetest Bake-Off, in brave, worried, joyful and proud poses.

The words

leyzays notes are written by Ley. Classic quotes come only from books, poems and scripture in the public domain — Shakespeare, Austen, the Brontës, Dickinson, Thoreau, Gibran, Montgomery, Alcott and more — with the author and work printed underneath. We leave out movie lines and quotes from living people: they’re protected, and too many are misattributed online.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Every picture carries a small #leyzays and overleyz.art mark in the corners — that’s the only ask.

Why doesn’t it post straight to Instagram?

Instagram doesn’t let websites post for you. On a phone, tap Share and choose Instagram — your picture or reel opens there ready to post. On a computer, save it and upload it.

My reel saved as WebM, not MP4.

Some browsers can only record WebM. Instagram prefers MP4 — Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android or desktop record MP4.

Where does the music come from?

Every tune is an original leyzays song, composed for the notes on leyzays — so your reels are safe to post.

Can I sell what I make?

Please don’t. The paintings, photos, characters and leyzays notes are © Ley Z and are shared here for personal posts only. If you’d like to use them for something else, ask first.

Can I use my own quote from a movie or a famous person?

You can type anything into the words box for your own personal post. Please credit the person you’re quoting.

Where can I see more?
